An Easter weekend trip back to my Ayrshire homeland and I had a memorable day out on the delightful little Island of Greater Cumbrae, just a mile or two off the mainland from Largs.
Looking back towards the mainland and the seaside town of Largs. Recent snow is still visible on the hills behind but it still felt like Spring was a long way off.
This was just a ‘quick snap’ taken from the coast road and didn’t look very exciting to start with (see below). Thanks to the wonders of ‘Photoshop‘, I could cut through most of the haze and add contrast, to make a much punchier shot. I then converted it to black & white, as the sky was grey and there was little colour of interest anyway. Most good landscapes tend to have have a focal point and mine was the passing yacht (which I waited for!) Of course, the shot was quite topical too with all the recent news coverage about disruption caused by snow on the Isle Of Arran. From front to back, the three islands ‘condensed’ using my 200mm zoom are Greater Cumbrae, the Isle Of Bute and the Isle Of Arran; all well worth a visit I might add!
