My home county of Ayrshire has some stunning coastal scenery, especially on a clear day towards the Clyde coast islands.
My brief tour of the south Ayrshire coastline, started at the sleepy little fishing village of Maidens. The mountains of the Isle Of Arran tower up in the background over the harbour wall, make for a pleasing scene on this clear Autumn day last week.
A few miles north of Maidens I took this shot of the curious volcanic island of Ailsa Craig, with the green fields of Ayrshire in the foreground and striking blue sea between. The somewhat less attractive power lines follow the route of the old railway. What a superb tourist railway that would have made had it survived.
The picturesque old fishing village of Dunure is a day trippers delight, as are the castle ruins, well worth exploring. Clearly visible on the horizon is the Mull Of Kintyre.
A last glimps of Ailsa Craig, silhouetted on the horizon, as the sun goes down.
Lastly, I shall end with this satisfying shot. I caught this striking image of the sun’s rays bursting through between the southern tip of Arran and tiny Lady Isle with it’s lighthouse, a few miles offshore from Troon.
