Having just returned from a short weekend break, I thought I’d share a few holiday snaps with you…DSC_1776 For a short cruise, there’s no better way than to travel in style on the world’s largest ocean liner, Cunard’s Queen Mary 2.

Queen Mary 2, Southampton

Queen Mary 2 slips out of Southampton on 11th December

One of my favourite shots and not an easy one to get sharp (movement and long exposure), was this one looking back from one of the upper decks leaving Southampton. If you look carefully, the lights of sister ship Queen Victoria can just be seen centre left above the buoy. I made good use of the fish-eye lens here.

Grand Lobby on QM2

Looking very festive, Queen Mary 2’s Grand Lobby, surrounded by a parade of posh shops. The ultra wide-angle lens proving handy again.

One of the most striking rooms on board, in my opinion, is the ornate cinema and planetarium .

The Queen's Room

The Queen’s Ballroom

A grand setting for dancing or the very popular traditional afternoon teas is the Queen’s Ballroom.

To give my fish-eye lens a rest, I just had to record the beautifully crafted cakes served by immaculately dressed white gloved waiters!

At almost 1/4 mile long, I wanted to take a shot that illustrated the ship’s vast size. This one was taken at Le Havre where I would have needed the wider lens to fit in the entire ship.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my brief snapshot of this great ship. There’s more photos from the cruise coming shortly.
