Newcastle Central Station
In my latest ‘Photographer’s Ramblings’, I discovered just how much the stunning city of Newcastle has to offer the intrepid photographer. My visit was far to brief, at just under two hours, but set me a challenge to see what interesting snaps I could bag, as well as have time for the obligatory coffee and cake!…
The two shots above I was particularly satisfied with: Both have direction and perspective. The pedestrian was nicely framed by the area in shadow crossing the High Level Bridge and the majestic sweep of the station roof was very pleasing when I switched to black & white and upped the contrast.
The elegant modern Gateshead Millennium Bridge was waiting for the sun to make it shine.
I don’t doubt that I’m not the first photographer to snap this shot (above) of the Tyne Bride and in particular the ‘tiny’ streetlamp framed between two imposing buildings. I’d love to re-take this shot at dusk or with a backdrop of billowing clouds.
Viewed from the top of the castle, the variety of the city’s skyline is very evident.
