One of my favourite places to visit locally is Arnside Knott. Tucked away in a southern corner of Cumbria this 522 feet/159m hill looks unexpectedly grand owing to it’s steep sides. It holds a record of being the lowest ‘Marilyn‘ (hill over 150m) in England.

Lake District view

Stunning views towards the Lakeland fells and a quirky gate!

It’s a delight to visit and easy to access, owing to a road and car park taking you close to the summit. The beautiful views from the top in all directions; north across the Kent Estuary to the Lake District, south west over Morecambe Bay and east towards North Yorkshire are stunning on a clear day.

The plunging sides makes the view down onto the fields below look deceptively dramatic.

It is however the striking trees on and around the hill sculptured by the wind, that make this a very special place to photograph.

This blog wouldn’t be complete without a view across the expansive sands of Morecambe Bay, shimmering in the sunlight.
