At last, the rain stopped, for one day at least and with an equally rare day off, I headed up to one of my favorite areas for an afternoon’s ramble, the South Lakes.
I hadn’t visited Humphrey Head for several years and was looking forward to the tranquility and vast expanse of Morecambe Bay. Unfortunately, on this occasion, my timing wasn’t ideal and the tide limited my access. On the other hand, with the water still and the sky and cliffs reflecting well, I caught a nice shot. With my usual only minimal tweaking in Photoshop, I was pleased with the result. I was careful, of course, to avoid the perfectly central horizon, that spoils many a good landscape picture.
A detour then took me across to the other side of the Leven Estuary and down to another lovely and relatively unknown spot, Canal Foot at Ulverston. It’s an interesting place, with fine views across to the railway viaduct and distant mountains. With dark clouds bubbling up, I caught an atmospheric shot, where I chose to resist ‘Photoshopping out’ the blue haze over the hills!
Anyway, judge for yourselves and do take a moment to browse through my many other landscape views. You will find them by clicking the ‘shop’ tab. All comments welcome by the way.
