With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, February is often considered as the month of love. It’s also the time of year that wedding venues throw open their doors and it’s easy to find a wedding fayre near you. They are a great way to explore what services are available in your area and perhaps more importantly, to meet the people who are behind them. It’s not just about comparing prices, although we all have budgets to keep to. It also doesn’t matter if it’s a big event with dozens of stands and a bridal catwalk, or just a small event with a handful of stalls. In fact the small ones are sometimes more fruitful because you may have a better chance to get to know your wedding supplier. So, whether you are in the early stages of finding what’s on offer or putting the finishing touches to your plans, check out one of the wedding fayres below which I will be at with my stand.
In the meantime, here’s my top wedding fayre tips for getting the best from your enquiries:
- Go early (or late) to avoid the rush either side of the catwalk.
- Be patient. If the stallholder is busy with another customer, it may be worth coming back if you like what you see on their stand.
- Ask lots of questions. A good wedding service provider will be happy to oblige.
- Pick up leaflets and mark those you were particularly interested in to study later, otherwise it may be ‘information overload’!
- There’s no such thing as a silly question. Suppliers will be aware that it’s probably all new to you.
- Ask how long the person has been in business. Experience in the wedding industry really counts!
- Seek out some testimonials from happy customers, usually on their website. Don’t be embarrassed to ask.
- Look out for stallholders who smile and engage with you, rather than silently hand you a leaflet.
- Follow first impressions. If the supplier seems a bit pushy or disinterested, are they right for you?
- Beware of ‘book today’ deals. It’s better to take your time and choose the right person/company rather than just grab 20% off!
- You generally get what you pay for. If it’s ‘too cheap’ are you prepared to gamble with your wedding day?
- And of course, don’t compromise on your wedding photographer! He/she forms a big part of your day and you rely on them for all the memories.
Finally, pick up a voucher with my brochure at any of these events (below) and if you book your wedding before the end of March, you will receive £75 off your wedding album!
