The death of Baroness Thatcher this week reminds me of my experience photographing her, back in the mid 1980s; right at the start of my 25 year press career. The late former PM was being grilled by journalists at an Ayrshire colliery during the miner’s strike. As if photographing the Prime Minister wasn’t enough of an adrenalin rush for a young press photographer, myself and the reporter had to drive through an angry miners picket line to get to the photo call!
